New Independent Kindergarten
We have some exciting news for our families and the Highfields community!
After opening our child care centre earlier this year it has become apparent that there is still significant need for a dedicated independent kindergarten program in Highfields. Please see our plans below for the area next door to our existing child care centre. It shows the addition of two kindergarten rooms, a new outside school age care (OSHC) room, as well as a massive new outdoor play area.
Independent Kindergarten Program
Our plan is to offer an independent kindergarten program from approximately 8:45am to 2:45pm in the two kindergarten rooms during school terms (40 weeks per year). As per typical independent programs, this will likely operate over a five day fortnight rotation with two groups per room. The children and teachers will enjoy large indoor rooms and a huge natural outdoor play area.
Families will also have the flexibility of booking their children in for longer days and/or book days outside the five day fortnight. An added benefit of being linked to a long day care centre is that families can access the CCB and CCR government subsidies.
Expanded School Care
In addition, our OSHC service in the existing centre will move over to the new building so the school aged children can have their own place with age appropriate resources. As well as before and after school care, this will expand our capacity for vacation care. In fact, the building is designed so that the whole area can be opened up, which may be a great option during times like Christmas school holidays.
We will be adding extra buses and will most likely start servicing other schools in the Highfields area. This will help families who have to do multiple drop offs or longer commutes to have a service for both their younger and school aged children.
We will lodge our application with Council next week and then proceed to construction as soon as possible. Our hope is that the new building will be open by early 2018, though this will depend on Council and any weather/building delays. We expect the process to be relatively straightforward but understand there can be delays.
Please call or email the centre if you have any questions and/or to express your interest. As during the build of our current centre, we will provide regular updates on the progress of the development, mostly via our Facebook page.
